FAQs Q: How do you determine your rates? A: Basically Makeup Artists can charge whatever they want. Most Makeup Artists charge according to their knowledge, experience and reputation. If we have a good reputation, use the best products in our kits, are honest and caring to make you look your best, we aren’t cheap. It is also important to me to be affordable. Clients also need to realize that the education and excellent training came at a price, and worth every cent. Many times Makeup Artists starting out their career will do your makeup at a reduced price in exchange for photos!
Q: Are the prices charged based on the occasion? A: Yes. Weddings for instance are the most important day in a couple’s life and the bride needs to feel special and beautiful. It takes a Makeup Artist a little longer to make you look your absolute best. I like to pamper my brides and make her experience special as the day itself. I will take my time to make your inner essence shine in the beauty of your smile – spending anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour on your makeup alone.
Q: Is a deposit required? If so, how much? A: Yes. To confirm a booking, there is a required cash deposit of 25% of the total package price.
Q: What if I don’t know how to explain the look I am going for? A: I suggest my clients look through magazines at celebrities and models for any close up pictures that are similar to what they want to look like. I ask them to find 3 to 4 looks and to tear them out and have them available so that I what you want. If you don’t find a look in magazines, I’ll bring my portfolio for you to look through and find something.
CHOOSING AN ARTIST
TIPS Skin Do’s: Use an eye cream both morning and night. Eye creams aid in diminishing wrinkles and helps to firm and refresh the delicate skin around the eye area. Weekly exfoliate the skin or treat yourself to a relaxing facial. Exfoliating rids your skin of dead skin cells. It can even help to eliminate some blackheads and whiteheads. Nightly remove your makeup before retiring. At night the skin needs to rejuvenate and breathe. Leaving makeup on at night adds to your chances of pimples and increases your chances of early wrinkles. Moisturize before going to bed.
What to Include in Your Personal Makeup Kit: Makeup bags need to be concise because we carry them with us all the time. I have found that you need a few basic items:
In your personal makeup bag at home be sure to throw away old makeup. Bacteria forms and tends to grow on items that are moist like lipsticks, glosses, mascaras, etc. Remember to keep your bag clean (usually soap and water). |
